Episode 3: Civil v. Criminal Law EXPLAINED, Part 3: OJ Simpson and Rodney King

What is the difference between civil and criminal law? In Part 3 of this 3-part series, our legal team wraps up its discussion of the O.J. Simpson and Rodney King cases from the 1990s that were pivotal, and are still instrumental, in explaining the fundamental differences in the civil and criminal law.

Join hosts Virginia Tehrani, Esq., and law student Chelsey Rogers for the conclusion of this series while we discuss Rodney King's civil trials against L.A., the mayor, the LAPD, and the individual officers who assaulted him.

We explain why there were two trials in one case, and how it was possible for Rodney King to recover only against some defendants and not the others. We then compare his case with O.J. Simpson's cases, explaining the key similarities and catalysts for the players, the cases, and the jury system.
